Welcome one and all to the new Jelly's Last Jam blog.
It's after midnight on a school night. Just listening to the Police 'Live!' album... not heard this for years, it takes me back to when I first heard Copeland's masterful drumming whilst I was at high school. I was playing for a band called Strange Weather back then, and we ended up playing 'Message in a Bottle' live at some gigs we did in Nice. Anyway enough remeniscing it's time to carry on with the blog.
On Sunday I finished editing the latest video diary, now with a snazzy new title sequence lifted from 'Dallas'. Check it out:
Now we just need to make the rest of the content as great to watch as the opening sequence! I may just bring the video camera to the practice room this Thursday, not done that for a while.
Speaking of practices, we're hoping to have a new song ready for the next 'Memory Loss' night in Manchester. Last time we debuted new track 'Smash and Grab', and we have a couple we're working on at the moment, entitled 'Same Old, Same Old' and another with a working title of 'Into The Breach'. hopefully we'll get at least one finished this week.
Thanks to everyone who came along to 'Memory Loss', it was a brilliant night, fucking stressful at times but for the most part enjoyable... how hot was it?! I think we've been promised more air conditioning for the next one.
Speaking of which, it's on September 28th, at Matt and Phreds in Manchester. We've invitied our close friends The Uncomfortables to play with us, we always have a good laugh with them so it's going to be a great gig. Also King Kayak are playing, they're from Manchester and I'm really looking forward to watching them play.
If you go to our facebook page (the link is on the right of this blog) you'll see the event I set up, please RSVP and invite your friends too. I invited Tom Hingley of the Inspiral Carpets and I bet you any money he clicks 'attending'... seriously he'll accept a facebook invitation to anything! As to whether he turns up or not that's another matter...
So far Aidan from Vencidos and Chazz from The Uncomfortables have accepted the invitation. Along with me that makes two and a half drummers.
Just had an email from Paul, he's finished editing the flyer we're going to use to promote the next Memory Loss. Here it is:
The image was by my wonderfully talented girlfriend Natalie. She's off in Liverpool at the moment preparing for her third year of uni at JMU. She's doing fine art, if you hadn't guessed.
Right it's time for me to skidaddle. I should go to bed, but I'm going to watch episode one of The Prisoner first. Always meant to watch it, and I've recently been spurred on by reading Paul Draper's wonderful Six Blog.
Nighty night.
Andy.
